Woman loses $20K in cryptocurrency scam: Avon Lake police blotter

AVON LAKE, Ohio

Theft: Aqua Marine Boulevard

On November 23, a woman reported losing $20,000 in a cryptocurrency investment scam.

Fraud: Walker Road

On November 16, a woman reported her father’s IRA had been stolen.

Burglary: Wildberry Circle

On November 20, a resident reported a side door to the residence had been kicked in and jewelry, change and a silver set had been stolen.

Traffic complaint: Pin Oak Parkway

On November 21, police stopped a driver heading toward Avon Belden Road. A probable cause search revealed narcotics and open alcoholic beverages. The driver and a passenger were cited for the illegal items, which seized as evidence.

Disturbance: Electric Boulevard

Police responded to a disturbance on November 22. A man and a woman were drunk and had been arguing. The man had a warrant out of the Lorain County Sheriff’s office and was arrested and transported to the jail.

OVI: Jaycox Road

On November 26, police investigated a car that had run off the road. A witness reported the driver exited his car and fell into the road. The driver was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control.

OVI: Miller Road

Police stopped a driver on November 26 and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalis, open container and speeding.
