The Washington Nationals on Wednesday announced a partnership with cryptocurrency company Terra that could result in digital currency payments at Nationals Park in 2023.
Terra is one of the largest decentralized autonomous organizations in the industry, and its cryptocurrency Terra USD (UST) could be available for payment at Nationals Park “as early as” the 2023 season, the team announced in a press release.
“The Nationals continue to push the envelope,” Nationals principal owner Mark Lerner said in a statement. “We are excited to partner with Terra to name our most exclusive club and explore bringing powerful new fan experiences to Nationals Park, including the use of UST cryptocurrency to make purchases.”
Terra advertisements will be seen around the ballpark, and the indoor club seating behind home plate, previously known as Nationals Club, will now be called “The Terra Club.”
Terra is one of the largest DAOs in the cryptocurrency industry.
Terra has experienced a meteoric rise as a market leader.

The partnership is the Nationals’ second significant one in as many weeks. Last week, the team announced the opening of a BetMGM retail sportsbook connected to Nationals Park — a first for an MLB stadium.
